| Explore how earth scientists find our mineral and energy resources, and manage our increasing demands on the environment. How do they help manage our needs for water, food and clean air? Almost all of our basic material needs come from the Earth – from metal ores to energy. But we must try to use these resources in a sustainable way, minimizing damage to the planet. We all have a contribution to make, including re-using and recycling. 6,000 specimens, including many precious gemstones, make this exhibition a visual and intellectual feast. Gaze at some of the Earth's rarest products – including the spectacular Latrobe gold crystal. In the Earth lab gallery you can examine geological materials and identify your own specimens using high quality Leica video microscopes. Copyright:The Natural History Museum, London |
