Leica QDecarburisation

Overview

Leica QDecarburisation is a digital image analysis application available as a single module or as part of the Leica QMetals suite. Leica QDecarburisation rapidly measures the depth, or width, of complete, partial and total decarburisation, averaged over a defined region.

Key Features

  • Performs interactive or automated measurement of complete, partial or total decarburisation.
  • Operates within the Leica Q550 MW Materials Workstation environment.
  • Leica QDecarburisation Wizard guides the user through the application process.
  • Conformity to industry standards.
  • User configurable report formats for presentation of results.

Decarburisation occurs for example, when carbon is burnt from the surface of steel during the process of heat-treatment. Because the decarburised surface layer can influence the properties of the finished product, it is important to be able to analyse it.
Compared with traditional manual techniques, Leica QDecarburisation provides a significant improvement of laboratory productivity. Not only does it have greater sample throughput capability and measurement repeatability, but it is also, in its automatic mode, inherently objective, and therefore more accurate. Results can be stored in an integrated database, where a search facility can quickly find the results of a particular analysis using unique information such as customer, specimen type, data, operator, etc.
Leica QDecarburisation complies with the following standards: ASTM E1077 DIN 50192 ISO 3887 JIS G0558.
